Dr. Montserrat Pérez is a professor at the University of Cádiz-Spain (UCA). Her research area is related to the recovery of bioenergy from agri-food waste using anaerobic digestion processes. Miriam Tena Villares

Dr. Miriam Tena is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cadiz, Spain. She defended his PhD in 2021 about the treatment of sewage sludge and wine vinasse for hydrogen and methane production. Her main research topics focus on bioenergy and anaerobic digestion of waste, mainly agri-food waste. E-mail:

Gilberto Martins

Dr. Martins is an associate professor at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC). His research area is related to energy recovery of biomass residues by thermochemical and biochemical processes, focusing on anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid wastes and evaluation of the best uses of the biogas and biomethane produced. Sérgio Valdir Bajay

Professor Bajay received a degree in mechanical engineering from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Campinas, CP, Brazil, in 1973, a master´s degree in mechanical engineering, in the area of fluid mechanics and thermal sciences, from Unicamp, in 1976, and a PhD in engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in 1981. Professor Bajay founded the Interdisciplinary Centre of Energy Planning at Unicamp in 1993, where he was director from 1994 to 1999 and senior research fellow from that period on. During the years 2001 and 2002 he obtained a license from the university to hold a position in the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy as Director of the National Department of Energy Policy. From November 2013 to November 2028, Prof. Bajay was a member, representing the Brazilian universities, on the Executive Committee of Energy Efficiency Indicators (CGIEE), at the Ministry of Mines and Energy . Dr. Buller is a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Food Engineering School at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Her research area focuses on systems diagnosis, systemic sustainability assessment for emerging technologies, and the economics of biomass conversion, waste valorization, and ecological engineering. PhD in Sociology: Focused on energy in international affairs, Strategy and energy security. Graduated in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1989), Masters in Political Science from the State University of Campinas (1995) and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of São Paulo (2002). He is currently a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Planning at the State University of Campinas, a collaborating professor at the DCP-IFCH-Unicamp and a professor at the Universidade Paulista. Leonor María Sillero Moreno is a PhD student in the Marine and Environmental Sciences Faculty at the University of Cádiz (UCA). Maria Paula Cardeal Volpi

Maria Paula is a Ph.D student in the Interinstitutional Bioenergy Program -(UNICAMP-USP-UNESP). Her project is related to the production of biogas through the anaerobic co-digestion of residues from the production of 1G ethanol and 2G ethanol, proposing the integration of sugarcane biorefineries.
