After two successful and highly-praised LGBTQ+ networking events in the last Society’s Annual Conferences, we have the pleasure to announce its return for a third installment at the next Annual Conference 2024 in Edinburgh, UK. This year we also have a Trans/Nonbinary pre-meet before the event.
The Microbiology Society has been pioneering in the organisation of networking events and other initiatives focusing on our LGBTQ+ community, inspiring other global actions in the same direction. Organised by Microbiology Society Champions, the third LGBTQ+ networking event hopes to maintain the legacy of the two preceding editions, in which attendees had the opportunity to share their experiences as part of the community and propose further actions to fight prejudice and increase their visibility in their working environments. Incorporating feedback from last year’s gathering, we have secured a larger venue, to encourage more flexible networking. Above all, the event will be a crucial step in strengthening the collaboration between interested members willing to change the scenario and celebrate LGBTQ+ microbiologists within the Society and beyond.
The event will take place at a venue to be announced directly to the attendees by email after their registration. The venue is located only less than a 10-minute walk from the conference centre. Join us for an evening of fun, networking and celebration over drinks and nibbles from 20:00–21:30 on Tuesday 9th April 2024. The pre-meet for our Trans/Nonbinary members will run beforehand, 19:30-20:00.
