Sobre este evento

The ultimate goal of maker-centered learning is to develop maker empowerment—an “I can do that!” or “I can figure that out” mindset.

By using Thinking Routines with our learners, they make their ideas and understanding visible to themselves, to each other, and to the teacher. With that, we end up developing the capacities that support maker empowerment and create a culture of thinking.

But how do we support a culture of thinking in our classroom?

This course is an introduction to THINKING ROUTINES, a powerful set of tools that give us insight into what our students are thinking. A repertoire of cognitive patterns, these Thinking Routines can be used in a variety of contexts. Rather than arriving at "the right answer," Thinking Routines transform instruction, giving learners the opportunity to explore many possible answers through inquiry, creativity, and dialogue.

For this 20-hour online class, we will be writing letters of love, curiosity, and courage. Using Thinking Routines, we will look closely at the art of letter writing and explore the complexity of how we communicate through the postal system. As an online learning community, we will find opportunities to write with purpose while practicing Thinking Routines.

We are excited to learn with you and learn from you -- so let's learn together!
