Victoria Academy of Ballet
VICTORIA ACADEMY OF BALLET (VAB)
Victoria Academy of Ballet (VAB), Western Canada’s leading dance school, offers specialized dance instruction for students ages 2 through to the professional level. Under the leadership of Bleiddyn Del Villar Bellis, FCSC-CICB, the Academy provides both professional and recreational training through its two program streams: the Vocational Division and the Open Division.
VAB’s internationally acclaimed artistic faculty, administration, and musicians support the Academy’s continued commitment to excellence, while nurturing a supportive and engaging environment where students can learn, thrive, and succeed.
VOCATIONAL DIVISION
This is VAB’s professional training stream for students wishing to train in an intensive, full-time environment. The Professional Training Program (PTP) and Post-Secondary Bridge Program (BP) prepare dancers technically, artistically, and personally for a professional career.
Dancers participate in a range of performance opportunities, including group and solo work at domestic and international competitions and festivals, as well as VAB’s productions: Spring Divertissement, Winter Interlude, and Take Flight.
OPEN DIVISION
The Open Division fosters a love, joy, and passion for dance. Classes are offered as full-year programs (September–June) as well as shorter 6- to 12-week sessions in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and new Summer sessions.
Students ages 2 through adult are welcomed into a supportive and inspiring environment where they can explore dance and reach their full potential. Full-year Open Division students perform in the annual Celebration of Dance year-end show.
Located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, VAB is part of a thriving global dance community and continues to collaborate with artistic leaders worldwide. The Academy is proud of its successful placement of emerging and graduating dancers into schools, companies, and programs across Canada and internationally.
