Chief Academic Officer Group

Ireland's seven Chief Academic Officers (CAOs) of the HSE Health Regions, linked to the county's six Medical School Universities, act as the bridge between the Universities and the Health Regions.

As CAOs, their primary mission is to ensure that the people of Ireland get optimal integrated healthcare. This group is chaired by Prof Helen Whelton, Head of College of Medicine & Health,UCC., and CAO HSE South West.
